While no other team has scored more than 12 goals in any of the other five games early in the league’s season, the Chiefs blew that mark from the water at a 17-11 Monday triumph over the Whitby Warriors–who, coincidentally, were the team to have scored 12 when they awakened Orangeville in their opener last Friday.

Ryan Smith launched his Jr A career. Smith did have some level experience going into the game having scored 70 goals in 40 Jr B games over three seasons.

Jason Knox’s debut might have been even more impressive. The 16-year-old from Huntsville was a second-round pick of graduating players that are midget in this year’s draft. He scored two goals and added 8 assists for what must be among the games in Jr A history.

The Chiefs’ explosion included without plenty of experience from two players. Patrick Kaschalk, who’d scored two points A games, added 4 goals and two assists. Chris Boushy was prolific in Jr B 46 goals and 94 points to the Halton Hills Bulldogs last year, but he doubled last night. Netted a hat trick and added 7 assists to tie Knox to get a game-high 10 points.

It was as they get in the summer season, an win which revealed a great deal of promise for the Chiefs.
